LEONARDTOWN, MD – The Commissioners of St. Mary's County (CSMC) began their business meeting with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by approval of the consent agenda.
As a part of the consent agenda, the CSMC authorized a letter to be sent to Governor Moore in support of the YMCA of the Chesapeake’s request for funding.
The CSMC then presented a proclamation in recognition of the Community Resource Day and National Service Dog Month.
The CSMC received an update on the 79th Annual St. Mary’s County Fair from the St. Mary’s County Fair Association.
During County Administrator Time, the CSMC took the following action:
- Reviewed future CSMC meeting agendas.
- Approved the CSMC to sign the letter of support for the FY2028-FY2033 State Capital Improvements Program.
- Approved a budget authorization for the George Washington Carver Elementary School Emergency Roof Restoration.
- Approved the FY28 Budget Calendar and the CY27 CSMC Meeting Schedule.
- Set the FY27 Transferable Development Rights Fee-in-Lieu at 120% of the FY2024 average fair market value of intermediate transfers.
- Approved the FY27 Community Partnership Agreement (CPA) and the related budget amendments to realign the project award.
- Approved the sub-recipient agreements between the County and St. Mary's County Public Schools, Circles/Hope for St. Mary's County, Nurse Family Partners, Patuxent Partnership, Boys & Girls Club, and Building Bridges.
- Authorized the submission of the FY26 Defense Community Infrastructure Program (DCIP) Grant.
- Established the Capital Project HW-2701 in the FY2027-FY2032 Capital Improvement Program and approved the related budget amendments.
- Approved the Department of Emergency Services proposed reorganization.
- Received an update on the Department of Emergency Services Contractor Dispatcher.
- Approved the budget amendment for the Fire/Rescue Station Alerting Infrastructure.
- Approved the Wellness and Aquatics Center lease with the College of Southern Maryland.
- Approved the sublease of the Carver Recreation Center with the St. Mary’s County Arts Council and PaxSpace Inc.
- Denied the grant application for the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program.
The Commissioners then wrapped up their business meeting with Commissioner Time.
The next CSMC meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 9 a.m. in the CSMC Meeting Room, on the first floor of the Chesapeake Building, located at 41770 Baldridge Street in Leonardtown.
